For today’s prompt, I decided to interview my fellow intern Courtney. She’s been working at the firm for two days longer than I have, so she’s officially in charge. She’s almost done completing her J.D. degree, and if this internship goes well for her, she graduates from the California Western School Of Law in April. In many regards, our stories are similar. She also got this internship through a school program, and works for the firm in exchange for credit. However, she only needs to work for 26 hours minimum, and doesn’t have to constantly bug her coworkers with daily prompts, so I think she got a better deal than I did. For her school program, she applied to intern at multiple different firms, and ended up being accepted at six different locations (and here I thought deciding between three was bad enough) but chose to work at Aguirre and Severson, LLP because they practiced law in a way that was most similar to the law she wished to pursue.

Courtney wanted to be a judge ever since she was nine, and from that point on never strayed from her goals. She says that high school taught her the focus and organization skills she needed to succeed in college, and that having set goals helped her on her on her way as well. Currently, she’s working on a case individually, and although she isn’t finding much success in contesting opposing arguments, she’s doing her best to make sure that justice is served to the people that need it most.
