I'll start off by saying that I have a lot of thoughts about this internship. After my interview back in November, I was very excited to be able to work for the firm. My mentors, the company founders, were very nice and seemed eager to teach me, and they let me take some candy from the front desk, which was a definite perk. Now, though, i'm more nervous about interning. I've never worked in a professional setting, especially not for a law firm, and i'm worried about how I should behave in that context, and I still have so many questions. What should I bring? What time should I show up? Are snacks allowed in the office? Over break, I managed to think up so many "what ifs" that I ended up stressed. However, my family encouraged me to see it from a different light. My mentors know that I haven't been in a professional setting before. I'm a high school student, after all. Besides, at our interview, they seemed excited to teach me, and understanding when I said that I didn't know something. All I have to do is be willing to learn, and my first day should go smoothly.

As for hopes and dreams, i'm mostly focused on learning all I can. Because this is such a new environment, I don't really know what to expect. As I said, I've never had a strict job, so I don't know what working there will be like. I tend to get nervous when contemplating something new, so this internship will be helpful in teaching me what a professional job may look like. If I had any firm hopes, it would be the desire to work on cases directly. I don't know if that would be possible, seeing as there's probably some non-disclosure stuff between a lawyer and their client, but it's still something I would like to do. From my time learning to code at The League, I've learned that I like solving problems by applying different methods, and that seems similar to what a law firm does- helping to solve people's problems by using various means.

All in all, I don't know what to expect. I'm nervous that i'm unprepared or under qualified, but I know that my mentors will be willing to teach me, if I am willing to learn.
