Our prompt for today was to visit our other classmates blogs, and drop a comment about what similarities and differences you found between their internship and yours. Here is who I visited and what I had to say:
Alyssia Baly:
One thing that stands out to me from your internship is your shadowing. From reading your blog (and a few texts you sent me), I gathered that your internship eased you into working there by having you follow people around and get a sense of the company before they gave you any work. This was super different from my internship, who kind of threw me into doing research and legal work. Your interviews were also different than mine. The people I talked to didn’t really talk about their life outside of work, but your mentor and coworkers did. That might be because of how we asked the questions, though.
Sydney Seriva:
This might be odd considering that I’m working at a law firm and you’re working with dogs, but I noticed a lot of similarities between our internships! You mentioned that there’s a lot of different jobs going on at once and you have to shift between them, which is something I’m seeing at my internship too. It’s good that they make sure you’re comfortable with each job before doing it, though, especially because of the more aggressive dogs you mentioned. Good luck overcoming your fears!
Olivia Hicks:
First of all, wow. Your internship website is super professional and all the photos you take look like they’re straight out of NatGeo. It also looks like you’re doing work you genuinely want to do. Although you’re not one to brag, I know you’ve had incredible experiences travelling abroad before, and I think it’s great that you found a way to tie that into internship. Second, I hope that you can find a way to make PBL work in Denmark. I know that you like things to work out the way you picture them to, but it’s a different school, system and hey, even a different country, and sometimes things won’t work out perfectly. Take time to yourself, and don’t get too stressed.
Also, while reading other's blogs, I realized that I write a lot, and that, surprisingly, most of my peers don't actually feel the need to make their posts more than two paragraphs long. Maybe I was going a little overboard with this whole blog thing. Oh well.
