Jan 22: Applying Lessons I've Learned At Internship To School

For this blog prompt, I wanted to talk about the second choice; what lessons I’ve learned from internship that I can bring back to school to aid in my academics. At school, I often have trouble switching between classes and can get overwhelmed with the amount of work I have for each. During internship, I’ve had the same problem, bouncing between cases in order to do work on each. The work isn’t easy, either. Reading through certain regulations and forms feels the same as annotating the philosophies of Jean-Jacques Rousseau for Green Group, except nobody’s going to put my face up on the wall if I do it right. On the plus side, I’m getting acclimated to more difficult work, so the homework HTHI assigns will probably feel like a cakewalk after this.
I’m also going to bring some skills to outside of school activities. I’m getting better at writing emails, through a combination of practice and heavy editing from the other people at the office, a skill that will definitely come in handy for ASB. In addition, I’m getting better at remembering complex terminology, something that will help me remember the difference between initializing and instantiating variables for the tests at The League Of Amazing Programmers. While they aren’t strictly related to academics, I have no doubt that these skills are valuable acquisitions as well.
