One of the biggest things differences between school and internship is the hours. At High Tech, school begins at 8:25 and lets out at 3:25. If you’re late there, you’re late. If you leave early, you’re ditching. If you need to leave early or arrive late, you have to call in, present a note, or have your parents contact the school. At the firm, I can’t keep track of how many times I’ve politely asked to leave early or get something to be met with “just go”, but there’s an inverse to this as well. At school, you can’t walk 100 feet without seeing someone that’s not where they’re supposed to be, or playing video games during a lecture. At the firm, everyone does what they’re supposed to, no texting or snapchatting at all.

In terms of how internship might influence my next semester, I’m a little worried that coming back to school will be a shock. For a whole month, I’m being treated like an adult, and not waking up at the break of dawn. School is more structured than internship, but I’m being treated like a student there. However, next semester is when things start to get serious. I’ll have to start studying for the SAT and planning where I want to go to college. So, because I’m dealing with more adult tasks, at HTHI I may be treated as more of an adult. I suppose that I won’t know until the semester begins, though.

(Pictured: I went out with one of my mentors to lunch today. While I didn't get any photos of the restaurant, they're setting up another shop in the office lobby. That's one constant between school and internship- going out for lunch).
